Job summary

The Senior Director of Delivery and Operations Office is a leadership position that assumes full accountability for the application, IT operations, IT infrastructure portfolio and lifecycle management, with an unwavering focus on prioritizing business imperatives. Strategically aligning product capabilities and requirements, release schedules, and cost considerations with these needs, demonstrating decisive leadership. Through the implementation of meticulously defined processes, procedures, and requirements, develop and inspire the team towards predictable outcomes, and drive continuous service enhancements. Moreover, adeptly oversee hardware, software, network, operating systems, and data storage, ensuring the provision of robust and scalable platforms essential for delivering unparalleled services and solutions.

How you will make a difference
  • In partnership with the Technology leadership team, defining the technology strategy (including cloud strategy), visioning, and road mapping in alignment with the organization’s business strategy.
  • Setting the mission, vision, and strategy of the technology Delivery and operations office to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise services.
  • Overseeing activities involved in the conception of a desired application through the final materialization of that application contained within the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Advancing the need and creating pre-defined and pre-approved workflows to enable self-service opportunities for areas of frequent change.
  • Developing a set of capabilities, including people, processes, and technology, to enable the transformation of raw data into meaningful and useful information for the purpose of business analysis.
  • Managing the activities and operational procedures required to deliver IT services, including standard operating procedures and monitoring activities.
  • Implementing new IT solutions and services in line with the agreed-on expectations and outcomes. Ensure that the implementation of new solutions and services has the necessary support, from planning to execution to post-implementation support and staff training.
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the design, installation, and connectivity of computer and network systems as well as hosted and on-premises servers and storage to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets.
  • Managing the organization’s infrastructure lifecycle by determining each infrastructure asset’s ability to provide value to the organization relative to its cost. Developing and maintaining the infrastructure roadmap, including when to retire, grow or replace, repurpose, or sustain.
  • Overseeing the architectural description for a specific solution or project; this includes the translation of business requirements into a high-level solution design and the definition of technical specifications, integration plans and effective operations.
Requirements that are important to us
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or related field.
  • Ten or more years of experience in IT or business industry with leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing.
  • IT Service Management and digital transformation experience is an asset
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is an asset
  • Experience with Development & Operations (DevOps) and Development, Security & Operations (DevSecOps)
  • Agile/Kanban/Scrum is an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset
  • Enterprise Architecture (EA) and The Open Architecture Group Framework (TOGAF) is an asset
  • Business acumen, communication, and relationship building are key.
  • Experience influencing key stakeholders across the organization within complex contexts, and leading IT transformational initiatives in complex, dynamic environments where agile is applied at scale.
  • knowledge and skills managing the following technology areas: development, QA, cloud, compute, storage, tools (automation, backup, etc.), network, and endpoint technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills with people leadership, including ability to lead a diverse team through change and manage expectations.
  • Strong strategic development, project management and interpersonal skills

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
