Job summary
As a member of the Healthcare Evaluative Research (HER) team, the Senior Economist is responsible for conducting research and analysis in the areas of health services research and/or health economics to support health policy evaluation and development.
How you will make a difference
- Preparing academic research papers related to physician and population health interests;
- Conducting analysis using large healthcare administrative databases, survey datasets, and external data sources as appropriate to address policy relevant research questions.
- Collaborating with other departments in evaluating existing datasets and identify information gaps that need to be filled;
- Preparing reports, presentations, and data visualizations for various departments, committees and other partners to explain research and analytic findings;
- Developing and strengthen relationships with external partners to identify opportunities to share information, collaborate on projects and influence outcomes.
- PhD in Health Services Research, Economics, or equivalent;
- 2-5 years’ relevant experience;
- Demonstrated expertise with statistical/economic software, including SAS, STATA, and related applications;
- Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system, OMA’s role, and key data/ information sources (e.g., CIHI, OHIP, OPRC).
