Job summary 

The Senior Technical Specialist, Data Automation is a vital member of OMA’s Technology Department. This position is responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting automated data and reporting solutions. The analyst’s work ensures the organization has access to reliable data, supporting informed decision making throughout OMA. 

This position focuses on reducing manual processes, improving data reliability, and providing timely insights to OMA Insurance, Members, and Executive Leadership. The incumbent acts as a trusted partner to the OMA Insurance business, translating complex requirements into scalable, automated analytics solutions using modern data and Various technologies. 

How you will make a difference  

  • Leading Data Automation & Integration Solutions: leading the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation workflows and data integrations across internal systems (e.g., CRM platforms, Microsoft Purview, Data Fabric/OneLake). Replacing manual and spreadsheet-driven processes with reliable automated solutions and ensures timely scheduled and on-demand data refreshes. 
  • Delivering Reporting, Analytics & Business Insights: developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI, Excel, and related technologies. Defining and standardizing KPIs and performance metrics and providing clear, actionable insights to business stakeholders and senior leadership to support operational, financial, and strategic decision-making.
  • Acting as a Trusted Advisor to Business Stakeholders: critically assessing and validating data used in financial, operational, and strategic decision-making. Collaborating closely with OMAI Insurance and cross-functional teams to understand reporting and automation needs, translate business questions into scalable data solutions, and deliver strategic insights that improve efficiency, service delivery, and outcomes. 

  • Advancing Data Quality, Governance & Compliance: establishing and maintaining robust data validation, reconciliation, and quality control frameworks across internal and external data sources. Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data received from external partners and vendors through ongoing validation, challenge, and reconciliation processes. Aligning with organizational data governance, privacy, and security standards and maintains comprehensive documentation of data sources, assumptions, and transformations. 

  • Driving Continuous Improvement & Innovation: identifying opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and advanced analytics to improve business processes. Contributing to the development of technology standards and best practices for data, reporting, and automation across the organization. 

  • Supporting and Oversees Reporting Infrastructure: managing and supporting the ongoing performance, maintenance, and enhancement of automated reporting environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with evolving business needs. 

Requirements that are important to us 

  • Undergraduate Degree in in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience 
  • Five or more years of experience in data analytics, reporting and automation 
  • Strong experience with: 
    • Data automation and transformation tools (e.g., SQL, Power Automate, scripting tools) 
    • Business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI) 
    • Advanced Excel functions and tools, including Power Query, Power Pivot, and complex formulas 
    • Microsoft data platforms and technologies, including Microsoft Purview and Data Fabric/OneLake 
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions 
  • Microsoft certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Power BI, Azure) and/or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designation required 
  • Azure certification, experience with Microsoft Fabriq IQ, and Microsoft Purview considered an asset 
  • Experience working within a membership-based, healthcare, or not-for-profit organization 
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance, privacy, security, and compliance standards 
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure, AWS, or GCP 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, version control (Git), and DevOps practices for data environments 
  • Experience with additional BI and analytics tools such as Tableau or Looker 
  • Experience working within the Microsoft 365 and Power Platform ecosystem 

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
